Ram 1500 repair keeps coming back — what am I missing?
I run a small repair shop, and I've been getting a lot of Ram 1500s in recently with the same issue: a persistent misfire. I've replaced the spark plugs, ignition coils, and even the fuel injectors, but the problem keeps coming back. I’ve done the basic diagnostics, and everything checks out, yet customers are returning within a few weeks, frustrated and looking for answers. It sounds like you’ve already done a lot of the standard checks. Have you considered the possibility of a vacuum leak or a faulty mass airflow sensor? These can often cause misfire issues that don't show up on basic diagnostics. If you haven't already, I recommend checking the intake manifold gasket and all vacuum hoses for wear. I’ve had success using a smoke test to pinpoint leaks. Also, don’t overlook the possibility of a bad ECU; it can be tricky but worth exploring if you’re hitting a wall. If you're looking for parts, I suggest checking with your local dealer for OEM parts. They might be pricier, but I’ve found that it can save you time in the long run.
