Buying parts on Amazon for repair shops — yay or nay?

Marcus R.QuickFix Mobile2 answers

I'm a small repair shop owner, and I've been considering buying parts on Amazon to save on costs. I've heard mixed opinions about it. On one hand, the prices can be really competitive, and I can get parts delivered quickly. But on the other hand, I worry about the quality and the return process if something doesn't work out. Has anyone else used Amazon for their shop parts? What has your experience been like? I recently tried to buy some common components like batteries and screens for smartphones. While I found some great deals, I also noticed that some parts didn’t match the quality of what I usually get from my trusted suppliers. I also had to deal with a couple of returns, which added more time to my workflow. Any advice on navigating this would be appreciated!

I’ve been using Amazon for certain parts, and I have to say, it’s been a mixed bag. For things like phone cases or basic accessories, it's a no-brainer. However, for critical components like logic boards or OEM screens, I stick with my usual suppliers. They might be a bit pricier, but the quality assurance is worth it. I also use shop management software that integrates with my main suppliers, which helps me keep track of orders better than having to sift through Amazon listings. Just make sure to read reviews and check seller ratings if you do go that route!

I understand your concerns. I tried buying some parts on Amazon last year, and I ended up with a few defective items that caused delays in my repairs. It was frustrating! I've shifted back to more reliable vendors who may have higher prices, but they offer warranties and better customer service. I also recommend checking out local suppliers or smaller online shops that specialize in repair parts. They often have better quality control and understanding of what repair shops need.
