computer repair shop owners in Chicago — what marketing works locally?
Hey everyone, I run a computer repair shop in Chicago and I'm looking to ramp up my local marketing efforts. I've tried a few things like putting up flyers in local coffee shops and running some Google Ads, but I'm not seeing the traction I hoped for. What has worked for you in this city? I'm especially interested in any partnerships or community events that have helped you attract customers. Also, are there specific online platforms that have brought in local clients for you? I’ve noticed that a lot of my customers come from word-of-mouth referrals, but I can’t seem to get that ball rolling. Any advice on how to encourage more referrals or build better connections in the community would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hi! I've had great success with local partnerships, especially with nearby businesses. I collaborated with a local coffee shop where I offered a discount to their customers for a limited time. In exchange, they displayed our flyers and handed out our business cards. This not only brought in foot traffic but also helped build a rapport with the community. Additionally, hosting free workshops on basic computer maintenance at local libraries has allowed me to showcase my expertise and connect with potential clients directly. Don't underestimate the power of being visible in the community! I also recommend using Nextdoor. It’s a great platform for local businesses to connect with residents, and I've received quite a few inquiries through it. Be sure to engage with your neighbors in the area and respond to any tech-related questions they post. It helps build trust and awareness about your shop.
Hello! I’ve found that social media advertising can be quite effective, particularly on Facebook and Instagram. Running targeted ads to local users has helped me a lot. You can specify demographics and interests to reach people who might need your services. Additionally, I started a blog on my shop's website where I post tips and tricks for common computer problems. This not only helps with SEO but also positions me as an authority in my field, which can attract more customers. Just be sure to occasionally mention your services in those posts to keep it relevant!
