How do you get Google reviews without offering discounts?
As a shop owner, I find that customer reviews are crucial for attracting new clients. However, I'm trying to grow my Google reviews without resorting to discounts or giveaways, which can eat into my margins. I've tried asking customers in person, but it's hit or miss. I'm looking for effective strategies that I can implement to encourage more genuine reviews from my satisfied customers. Any tips or methods that have worked for you?

One effective strategy I've employed is to make the review process as easy as possible for my customers. After a service, I send a follow-up email thanking them for their business and including a direct link to our Google review page. I also personalize the message to mention the specific service they received, which helps jog their memory about their positive experience. Implementing this simple step has significantly increased my reviews without needing to offer discounts. Additionally, I highlight reviews on our social media and website. This not only shows appreciation for those who take the time to write a review but also encourages others to share their experiences. Just remember to respond to all reviews, good or bad, to show you value customer feedback.
To boost Google reviews, I also use my shop's loyalty program as a subtle motivator. While I'm not offering discounts directly for reviews, I do promote that leaving a review can earn points that can be redeemed later. This way, customers feel appreciated for their feedback without it feeling like a transaction. Moreover, I've found that training my staff to ask for reviews during checkout has made a big difference. They can explain how reviews help our small business grow and mean a lot to us. It's about building that relationship and trust with our customers.
