How do you handle online booking no-shows?
As a shop owner, I've noticed that online booking no-shows can really disrupt my workflow and affect my bottom line. It’s frustrating when a customer books an appointment and then doesn’t show up without any notice. I want to hear how others in the community manage this issue. Do you implement any specific policies or tools to minimize no-shows? I’d love to learn about any tactics that have worked for you, whether it’s reminders, deposits, or something else entirely.

I completely understand your frustration with no-shows! In my shop, we started requiring a small deposit when customers book online. This way, they have a financial commitment, and it's reduced our no-show rate significantly. Along with that, we send out automated reminders via SMS and email 24 hours before the appointment. It gives them a chance to confirm or reschedule, and we’ve found that it helps keep our schedule full.
We've dealt with no-shows as well, and one thing we've tried is having a clear cancellation policy posted on our website and at the shop. It outlines the consequences of missing an appointment, which seems to make some customers think twice. We also follow up with a quick call if someone misses an appointment, just to check on them and remind them about the importance of notifying us. It’s a bit of extra work but helps build a relationship.
