iPad digitizer ghost touches after install?

Mei C.Pixel Perfect Repair2 answers

Hey everyone, I just replaced the digitizer on an iPad and now I'm experiencing ghost touches. This is really frustrating because I followed all the steps carefully and the replacement part seemed solid. I made sure to discharge any static before starting and used a quality adhesive to secure the new digitizer. But as soon as I powered it on, the screen started to register touches on its own. Has anyone faced this issue after a digitizer install? I've double-checked all the connectors and they seem to be seated properly. I'm wondering if it could be a faulty part or if there's something more I might have missed during the install process. Any insights or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

It sounds like you might have a grounding issue or possibly a bad digitizer. I had a similar situation once, and I found that the flex cable was slightly damaged during installation. I recommend checking the cable for any bends or cracks. Also, if you haven't already, try recalibrating the screen using software like 3uTools or even just performing a factory reset to see if that helps. If the digitizer is defective, I usually order from a vendor like iFixit or Repairs Universe; they have a decent return policy if the part is faulty. Good luck!

I’ve encountered ghost touches before, and it can be a headache. One thing you might want to check is the protective film on the new digitizer. Sometimes, they come with a film that needs to be removed before installation. Also, ensure that there’s no debris or dust beneath the glass. If everything looks good, consider trying a different supplier for the digitizer. I’ve had issues with parts from less reputable sources in the past, and it can save you a lot of time and hassle in the long run.
