Dell XPS repair keeps coming back — what am I missing?
I've been running my repair shop for a few years now, and I keep getting Dell XPS laptops coming back with the same issues. Recently, I had one customer bring in an XPS 13 for a screen flickering problem. I replaced the display, but within a week, the flickering returned. This isn't the first time I've seen this either; it seems like an endless cycle. I've checked the drivers and updated the BIOS as recommended, but it feels like I'm missing something fundamental. I want to make sure I'm providing the best service possible, but I also don't want to keep throwing parts at the problem. Any insights on what I might be overlooking or common issues with this model would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there! I've dealt with a fair number of Dell XPS laptops over the years, and in my experience, the flickering issue often stems from the display cable rather than the screen itself. Make sure to inspect the cable for any signs of wear or damage, as these can cause intermittent connections. I usually source my parts from a reliable vendor like iFixit or LaptopScreen.com, where you can find both screens and cables at decent prices. It might also be worth checking the battery; sometimes a failing battery can lead to power inconsistencies that affect the display. Good luck!
I hear you on the Dell XPS issues! I've faced similar problems and found that sometimes the issue is with the GPU or integrated graphics settings. If you've already replaced the display and cable, try booting the device in safe mode or with an external monitor to see if the flickering changes. Also, consider running a complete diagnostic check with Dell's built-in tools. If all else fails, maybe advise the customer to reach out to Dell directly, as they do have warranty options that might cover these repeat issues. Hope this helps!
