Google Pixel 8 repair keeps coming back — what am I missing?

Elena M.FixIt Phone Lab2 answers

I've been dealing with a frustrating situation regarding Google Pixel 8 repairs at my shop. I’ve had a few customers come back with the same issue after I replaced their screens, which is typically a straightforward repair. The screens seem fine initially, but within a week or so, the touch responsiveness becomes erratic, and the display goes dark intermittently. I’ve double-checked my work, and I’m using quality parts from my usual supplier, but I still can't figure out what’s going wrong. Has anyone else experienced this with the Pixel 8? I've tried updating the software on the devices before sending them back, thinking it might be a firmware issue, but that hasn’t solved the problem either. I’m starting to worry about my reputation and how to handle customers who keep coming back with the same complaint. Any insights or troubleshooting tips would be greatly appreciated!

I faced a similar issue with the Pixel 8 a few months ago. It turned out that the connectors for the display were a bit finicky with some of the replacement screens. I switched to a different vendor for my parts and found that their screens had a better compatibility rate. Check out 'PartsMaster' if you haven't already, they have a solid reputation for Pixel parts. Also, ensure that you're cleaning the connectors well before installation—any residue can cause connectivity issues down the line. This helped me reduce the return rate significantly.

I've had my share of issues with the Pixel 8 as well. One thing that might help is to verify if the customer is using any third-party software that could interfere with the display functionality. Sometimes, apps or system tweaks can cause unexpected glitches. Make sure to document everything you do during the repair and have a clear communication line with your customers about what to expect post-repair. It might also be worth investing in a diagnostic tool that can help you catch problems before handing the device back.
