[tablet repair] Surface Go screen adhesive tips?
Hey fellow repair shop owners! I'm reaching out for some tips on reattaching screens on the Surface Go. I've had a few come through my shop lately, and while I can replace the screens just fine, getting the adhesive right has been a challenge. I've tried a few different types, but I still find that they don't always hold up as well as I'd like. I usually order my adhesive from a couple of different vendors, but I’m curious about what others are using. Is there a specific brand or type that you’ve found works best for the Surface Go? Also, any tips on the workflow during the reassembly process would be greatly appreciated. I want to ensure I’m getting a solid bond without making the process too cumbersome. Thanks in advance!

Hey there! I’ve been working with Surface Go repairs for a while now, and I’ve found that the LOCA (Liquid Optically Clear Adhesive) works wonders for a strong bond. My go-to supplier is iFixit; they offer a decent price and I’ve never had issues with quality. I also use their UV lamp to cure the adhesive, which really helps in ensuring a solid hold. In terms of workflow, I recommend prepping the surfaces meticulously before applying the adhesive. Clean them with isopropyl alcohol to remove any residue. When you apply the LOCA, use a thin layer so it doesn’t ooze out when you press the screen back on. Once you’ve positioned the screen, curing it with the UV lamp for about 60 seconds should give you a great bond. This method has cut down on my reworks significantly!

For workflow, I suggest having everything laid out before you start. I use a soft cloth to keep the device stable while removing the old adhesive. It’s quick, but I wouldn’t rely on it for long-term durability. If you’re doing this often, investing in LOCA might be worth it!
